Since then, a myriad of efforts have contributed to a deeper understanding of and appreciation for the citizens of these two great international cities. On October 6th 1990 the committee dedicated the Berlin Forest in Griffith Park, in the presence of the Mayor of Los Angeles, Tom Bradley, and Governing Mayor of Berlin, Walter Momper. The committee has provided room and board, logistical and monetary support (scholarships) for exchange students and professionals from Germany, mostly erlin. Among the primary activities are fundraisers that promote social and cultural exchanges between the two cities, as well as specific exchanges in the field of fine arts, music, literature, drama and science. The committee has cooperated with many other German-American organizations and has participated in the 50th Anniversary of the Berlin Airlift in 1998 (Berlin) and 1999 (Los Angeles).
